Keeping our community clean is about more than just appearances—it’s about safety, pride, and quality of life.

When garbage, broken furniture, and other debris pile up on our streets, back lanes, and in our parks, it attracts pests, creates health risks, and sends the message that no one cares.

I will push for more frequent garbage and bulky-item pickup, better maintenance of public spaces, and faster response times for reported problem areas.

I will also support stronger enforcement against illegal dumping and work with local groups, schools, and businesses on neighbourhood cleanups and education campaigns.

Together, we can keep our streets, sidewalks, and green spaces clean and welcoming for everyone.

Local Business Support

Supporting local businesses is essential to building a strong, resilient community. When we shop and hire locally, more of every dollar stays in our neighbourhood, helping to create jobs, keep storefronts filled, and maintain the services families rely on every day.

I will work to cut red tape for small business owners, improve communication with City Hall, and make it easier to open and grow local shops, restaurants, and services.

I will also push for fair, predictable taxes and fees so small businesses can plan for the future instead of worrying about sudden cost increases.

Local businesses are also key partners in keeping our streets safe, clean, and welcoming.

I will support programs that encourage “shop local” campaigns, neighbourhood events, and collaborations between businesses, community groups, and schools. By listening to local owners and workers, and making sure their voices are heard in city decisions, we can build a thriving local economy that reflects the character and needs of our community.

Stopping the dumping of raw sewage into our rivers is one of the most urgent environmental and public health issues facing our city.

When untreated or poorly treated sewage flows into the river, it carries bacteria, viruses, chemicals, and microplastics that make the water unsafe for people, pets, and wildlife.

It can close our beaches, contaminate fish, and increase the risk of illness for anyone who comes into contact with the water.

Over time, sewage also strips oxygen from the river, killing plants and animals and damaging the entire ecosystem.

River Health & Ecology

Protecting our rivers is also about fairness.

Many of the neighbourhoods most affected by sewage pollution are the ones with the fewest resources and the least political power.

I will work to prioritize upgrades in these communities first, so every family—no matter their postal code—can enjoy clean, safe water.

I will also advocate for stronger enforcement against illegal dumping and for partnerships with provincial and federal governments to secure the funding we need.

Join Our Community Clean Up

Finally, I believe residents should be part of the solution.

I will support public education campaigns about what should never go down our drains, create citizen reporting tools for suspected spills, and work with local environmental groups, schools, and businesses on river cleanups and monitoring projects.

Stopping raw sewage dumping is not just about pipes and pumps—it’s about protecting our health, respecting our environment, and leaving a cleaner, safer river for the next generation.
